An initial meeting is available at no charge to any new student to discover their interests, determine the course of instruction and answer any questions. Lessons are for anyone age 6 and up. Instruction for beginners in most instruments (including vocals) are offered as well as audition preparation for entry into any school band. Jon doesn’t force you to and will help you learn basic songs that don’t require them. Want to learn a complicated riff for a song that he isn’t familiar with? No problem. He will work with you to help you learn it and figure it out. He is very good at showing you how to practice new skills and techniques and instead of just drilling techniques, he will pick songs that incorporate certain techniques that you are trying to learn so you can work them into actual songs. When I was first learning to play, I would take Jon songs to that I wanted to learn and he’d teach me about chords and techniques to be able to play the song.
